Protecting Ukrenergo Repair Crews: A Project to Train Energy Workers in First Aid Skills

Andrii Matiukha Foundation Becomes a Partner of the “Ukrenergo Repair Workers Protection” Project

In August 2025, the Andrii Matiukha Foundation joined the initiative “Protecting Ukrenergo Repair Crews”, aimed at training the technical staff and repair teams of NEC Ukrenergo in first aid skills — basic procedures that can save lives in critical situations.

The program’s goal is to increase the safety of energy workers restoring power grids after missile and drone strikes, and to reduce the consequences of critical injuries through first aid skills aligned with international standards. The plan includes 75 one-day training sessions covering approximately 1,500 company employees.

During the training, participants will acquire knowledge and practical skills in stopping bleeding, applying tourniquets, assessing casualties, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Upon completion, trainees will receive a personalized certificate.

Why is this important?

Since 2022, dozens of massive Russian attacks have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, damaging tens of thousands of facilities. Energy workers are killed and injured directly in the line of duty — with Ukrenergo officially confirming fatalities during service. First aid training significantly increases the chances of survival in critical moments.

Foundation founder Andrii Matiukha emphasized: “Energy workers give us light even after devastating attacks. We must do everything possible to ensure these people have all the tools they need to save their own lives and the lives of their colleagues.”

The project operates under the patronage of the Andrii Matiukha Foundation.
