"ORIGAMI for UKRAINE": Andriy Matyukha Foundation Supports Launch of Charity Art Installation in Kyiv

An international art installation titled ORIGAMI for UKRAINE has been unveiled on the facade of the Museum of the History of Kyiv. The artwork features a composition of 5,000 origami birds crafted from metallic paper. Designed by Belgian artist Charles Kaisin, the piece symbolizes the resilience of the Ukrainian people and their aspiration for peace.

The project, aimed at raising funds for the Kyiv City Center for Rehabilitation Medicine, was made possible with the support of the Andrii Matiukha Foundation, which served as a key partner in the initiative. The installation is the result of international cooperation between Kyiv and Brussels, and involved local community engagement — with children from the Kyiv Youth Palace contributing by folding many of the origami birds themselves.

“This project brings together everything we value — support for healthcare, collaboration with international partners, and active community involvement. We joined because we believe such initiatives carry not only symbolic meaning but also real practical impact,” said Andrii Matiukha, founder of the supporting foundation.

The installation will remain on public display for 90 days and has already become part of a broader humanitarian partnership between Kyiv and Brussels. Since 2023, the two cities have been actively implementing joint projects in the fields of culture, education, and public health.
