With the support of the Andrii Matiukha Foundation, the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” received a new Thompson system

Thompson Surgical System Launched at Okhmatdyt with Support from Andrii Matyukha Foundation

The National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” in Kyiv has been equipped with a state-of-the-art Thompson surgical system — one of the most advanced tools for performing complex operations on newborns and children. The installation was made possible through the support of the Andrii Matiukha Foundation and the charitable organization Good Donations.

The Thompson system is a next-generation retractor designed to provide surgeons with a clear view of the surgical field, reduce physical strain, shorten operation and anesthesia time, and allow for more delicate procedures — all of which are critically important in pediatric surgery.

The full system cost more than UAH 2.2 million. According to hospital representatives, this investment significantly enhances the safety and care of hundreds of young patients requiring urgent surgical intervention — with over 300 operations performed annually in the emergency surgery department alone.

“Doctors must have all the necessary tools to save lives — that is our responsibility as citizens and as a society, especially in today’s circumstances,” said Andrii Matiukha.

Matiukha emphasized that this is not the foundation’s first initiative in support of Ukrainian healthcare.

“We believe in long-term impact. Systematic support always delivers better results than one-off donations,” he added.
