Andrii Matiukha Foundation continues supporting first aid training for energy workers: another session held in Kyiv

Andrii Matiukha Foundation continues helping energy workers master life-saving skills

In October, ten Ukrenergo repair specialists in Kyiv practiced actions that could one day save lives. The enemy often deliberately targets crews dispatched to quickly repair damaged facilities, making first aid knowledge in such conditions a matter of survival.

That’s why the Andrii Matiukha Foundation supports the “Protection for Ukrenergo Repair Crews” program. Within the project, FAST instructors train energy workers to apply tourniquets on themselves and their colleagues, stop bleeding through wound packing and direct pressure, use Israeli bandages, check consciousness, and safely place an injured person in a recovery position. Special attention during the training is given to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

“Our goal is to teach energy workers how to act correctly when lives are at stake. The knowledge we provide gives them confidence in critical situations,” said Andrii Matiukha.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the work of Ukrainian power engineers has become one of the country’s most dangerous professions. The enemy continues to destroy critical infrastructure — over 63,000 facilities have already been damaged. At least 160 specialists have been killed, 13 of them while performing repair works directly on-site, and more than 300 have been injured.

The nationwide “Protection for Ukrenergo Repair Crews” program has already reached more than a dozen cities. Over 30 training sessions have been conducted, during which more than 600 energy workers learned basic first aid skills. In total, over 70 sessions are planned, enabling around 1,500 specialists to acquire these essential skills.
